In such a confusing time in your life, and in the ongoing years, having someone to help co-ordinate and keep track of things for you is so helpful. The support provided by these Care Advisors can be that breathing space we all need sometimes.
Regional care advisors provide practical and emotional support for families affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions. They also offer advice and information, supporting physical and emotional well being through regular clinics, and educating other health professionals.
Their training backgrounds include nursing, social care, physiotherapy and occupational therapy. They work with statutory service providers, education authorities and other professionals to advise, support and best meet the needs of people with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular dystrophy.
If you would like any help being directed to your Care Advisor, the first port of call would usually be your Neurologist who oversees your care.
